BIME-WESTWAY MUSIC MANAGERS EXCHANGE PROGRAMME:
Westway LAB Guimarães is Portugal’s first professional music conference, and also an artist residency showcase festival. After having completed its second edition in April 2015, and having partnered with BIME, Bilbao International Music Experience, on a communication basis, from the professional interaction that took place in the Westway LAB’s PRO conference it became apparent that Portuguese music professionals would benefit from professional development workshops so as to be more empowered and better prepared for international interaction with their peers; the same goal that BIME also wants to achieve for the Basque region where BIME is held each year.

BIME is the first conference to focus on Music, New technologies, Gaming and New Revenue. There are no other conferences in Europe that explore the relationship between music and gaming, as well as debates concerning new revenue models that are changing the modern music landscape. BIME also has a large focus on the Latin-American Music Industry. This is accompanied by BIME Live, a citywide festival held in Bilbao featuring, in 2.014, Placebo, The National, Macy Gray, The Kooks, Basement Jaxx, Thurston Moore, Manic Street Preachers or Mando Diao…
Westway LAB is Portugal’s first PRO music event, combined artist residencies, showcase concerts and Portugal’s first PRO music conference to have joined the ETEP network (European Talent Exchange Programme). Is it held annually in the city of Guimarães, Portugal’s first capital city, and co-organized by the AMAEI, the Portuguese Independent Music trade association, and A Oficina (Municipal Co. of the City of Guimarães). Westway Festival has debuted international artists in Portugal such as Blaudzun, My Baby, The Membranes, Young Karin and many of the residency artists come to Portugal for their first time as well.
